Nothing on this page is a medical recommendation, prescription or treatment plan. It is an organized translation of protocols circulating in research communities and, where it exists, of what published trials tested. The two are marked differently — and they are not equivalent.

Most of the compounds here have no FDA approval for human use. Several are sold labeled "research use only", which means they have not gone through purity, sterility or dosage controls for human consumption. A community-reported dose is not a validated dose: it is what someone reported having done.

Talk to a licensed health professional before considering any of these compounds. If you already use one and feel anything unexpected, seek care — do not wait for the next routine test.

Specific attention for this compound: None of the eleven has a registered trial on ClinicalTrials.gov. Eight do not have even one clinical trial article in PubMed. Seven do not even have their chemical sequence indexed.

Summary

Vilon, Vesugen, Livagen, Cortagen, Pancragen, Prostamax, Testagen, Chonluten, Bronchogen, Crystagen and Ovagen: peptides of two to four amino acids from the Russian school of bioregulation. They are on a single page, not eleven, because the survey of PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov does not support eleven. Eight of the eleven have no clinical study at all, and none has a registered trial.

What they are

They are peptides of two to four amino acids, developed by Vladimir Khavinson's group at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. The group's thesis is that each short peptide binds to specific regions of DNA and regulates gene expression in a target organ — hence each one is named after the tissue it is meant for: Bronchogen for the bronchi, Testagen for the testis, Prostamax for the prostate, and so on.

This page covers eleven of them at once. The reason is in the next section: splitting them into eleven pages with a dose table would give the impression that there is a basis for that, and there is not.

I queried PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov on September 4, 2026, one by one. The result is below.

The Query column carries the exact term that produced the number next to it. Paste it into PubMed and the result has to be the same — if it is not, the number here is stale, and what counts is what the database returns to you.

The Clinical trials column is the same query plus the filter Clinical Trial[Publication Type] OR Randomized Controlled Trial[Publication Type]. On ClinicalTrials.gov the search was by intervention, with the same term.

Three things this survey reveals

  • None of the eleven has a single registered trial on ClinicalTrials.gov. The search by intervention returned zero, with a total count of zero.
  • Eight of the eleven have no clinical trial article in PubMed. The family's entire clinical literature is concentrated in two compounds: Vilon and Vesugen.
  • The sequences of seven of them are not even indexed as a chemical concept in PubMed — which means that, for the world's reference biomedical database, these compounds have no established chemical identity.

The five clinical studies that exist

According to PubMed, this — and only this — is what clinically supports the entire family. All in Russian, almost all in the same journal, and three with the developer among the authors.

The trap in the name Ovagen

While compiling this, the search turned up a randomized trial that appeared to be about Ovagen. It was not: it is a superovulation study in cows, published in Animal Reproduction Science, in which Ovagen is the brand of a veterinary FSH product — nothing to do with Khavinson's peptide.

I record this because it is exactly the kind of error that inflates evidence counts when someone searches by trade name and does not check what they found.

Regulatory status

  • Russia: several are sold as dietary supplements (parapharmaceuticals), not as registered drugs.
  • Brazil: none has registration.
  • United States and European Union: none is approved.

Why this page gives no dose

Because there is no primary source to take it from. With zero registered trials and eight of the eleven compounds without any clinical study, any dose table here would be a transcription of a supplier's label — presented with the same look of authority as the tables in the rest of the site, which at least come from documented protocols.

It is the difference between saying I don't know and filling the gap with something that looks like an answer.
